Transport Methods & Modes

Modes are used to report the method of transportation of the fuel load, or blending activity on the Fuel Distributor, Carrier, Terminal Operator Returns and to indicate adjustments made by the Department.

The most common transport methods are: 

  • Pipeline (PL)
  • Rail (R)
  • Truck (J)

Additional modes: 

  • Barge (B)
  • Book adjustment (BA) - Used to show blending activity of fuel or ownership change within the location.
  • Changed by Department (CD) - Used to indicate entries made by the Department.
  • Pump (GS)
  • Ship (S)
  • Stationary transfer (ST)
  • Removed from Terminal (RT)
